Middle School Choir

Middle School Choir focuses on the development of comprehensive choral musicianship through the performance experience. Members will be exposed to a breadth of music literature with an emphasis on high-quality performance and developing a thorough understanding of technique. 

Student Learning Goals

  • Create the vocal method and aural abilities required for singing flawlessly and creatively in an ensemble or as a soloist.

  • Develop an appreciation for music of different styles and time periods.

  • Perform a diverse repertoire of vocal music with accuracy and expressiveness.

  • Learn the fundamentals of music and demonstrate knowledge of music terms.

  • Understanding relationships between music, the other arts, and disciplines outside the arts.  Understanding music in relation to history and culture.

High School Choir 

The High School Concert Choir was established for students to focus on their musical skills as they continue to form and encounter music as a melodic ensemble.  This class will provide a strong basis for the continuation of their music skills as the student continues on their path to becoming a life-long participant of music.

Student Learning Goals

  • Increase in knowledge of the fundamentals of music and of music terms.

  • Apply and recognize the following elements in a choral setting: expression, dynamic contrast, phrasing, tone quality, timbre, major/minor textures, form, articulation, proper vocal technique, balance and blend in a choral context. 

  • Understudies will be able to outwardly and aurally recognize different sorts through identifiable characteristics of each genres’ social beginning, bona fide instrumented, and physical execution.

  • Develop an understanding of music theory and its connection to performance. 

  • Students will participate in multiple performance opportunities and practice proper performance etiquette; both as a performer and as an audience member. 

  • Students will discover connections between the arts and other subject areas through exploration, collaboration, and classroom discussion.
