During this time, students are exposed to the elements of music such as naming notes, singing folk songs, playing singing games, reading and creating rhythms, works music and musical composers.
Instruments play a vital role in the music classroom as well. All grades are exposed to Orff instruments, percussion, hand bells, and fourth and fifth grade learn the recorder.
Students also participate in plays throughout the year. Kindergarten through second grade perform in the Spring, third through fifth grade performs a Christmas musical, and all grade levels participate in Grandparent’s Day. All of these elements fit together to demonstrate how we can use our music and our voices to worship God and the gift He gives us in music every day.
