Middle School (6-8)
Middle school is an exciting time of change in a young person’s life as students are starting to determine who they are and as they begin transitioning from childhood to young adulthood. Luke 2:52 describes Jesus during these years saying that He “increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.” Through a caring and devoted staff, a rigorous academic curriculum, exceptional athletics, and engaging extracurriculars, RCS middle schoolers are nurtured, encouraged, and equipped to grow in the same way that Jesus did.
6th-8th grade students will have Bible class every day. 6th grade will study different portions of Scripture to begin learning to see as God sees and to understand their need to be adopted into the family of God. 7th grade will study the Old Testament and see Christ woven throughout. 8th grade will focus on the Gospels and discover the harmony that exists among all of them to provide us with the life of Jesus and the only way to salvation through Him. Students will also participate in weekly chapel services. Students will learn how to draw nearer to God through engaging worship and dynamic speakers.
Our academic program seeks to train students for success in all facets of their lives while keeping Christ preeminent in all things. Our highly qualified staff challenge students academically and present a Biblical worldview that deepens students' understanding of the world around them. Advanced courses are available beginning 7th grade for mathematics, and in 8th grade, students have the opportunity to take classes for high school credit in mathematics, science, and foreign language.
Middle schools students may participate in a variety of sports. The athletic department works tirelessly to train students physically but also socially as they help students develop essential interpersonal communication skills. Available sports include:
- Cross Country
Students in middle school will take two semester-long classes that will expose them to the beauty found in God’s world. Elective options are:
