The 7th grade Texas History students visited Cypress Top Historic park on December 5th. After learning the history of the Cypress area, the students visited the old Juergen store, examining many "artifacts" from the past including a "chicken catcher", many versions of irons, chamber pots, and coke bottles from back in the day when you got 2 cents back, just for returning the bottle. They also visited the historic Juergen house, learning about life in the early 20th century. Our RCS parents got a view of a report card from the 1920s, where the parents of the time were expected to fill in a "Home Report" about their student's behavior at home. Categories included taking care of the cows and chickens, gardening, ironing, sweeping, as well as reporting obedience, neatness, and health habits!
