Rosehill athletics continues to thrive as the women’s track team brings home a 2nd consecutive team title and a bus load of medals from the TAPPS State Track Meet! Opening day was rain-delayed most of the day, making for a long wait and difficult conditions for competition. However, our ladies rose to the occasion, hauled in 9 medals on day one, and bolted out to a commanding team lead that proved to be insurmountable through the weekend.
And if that wasn’t enough, the team returned home to accept recognition as VYPE Magazine’s Private School Girl’s Track Team of the Year, along with Jonathan Whitson being named VYPE Magazine’s Girl’s Track Coach of the Year. Congratulations to the team and coaching staff for another outstanding season and we look forward to continuing a tradition of excellence on the track and field.

Students in Spanish IV Honors visited the Doneraki on May 2, an authentic Mexican restaurant downtown. Not only did the students speak Spanish the entire meal with each other and with the staff, but more importantly, La Catrina, the series of novels they have been reading for the past two years (and the corresponding video series), are based on the works of the famous painter, Diego Rivera, and the Mexican legend of "La Catrina". The Doneraki has Rivera's exact mural re-created from Mexico City, Sueño de una Tarde Dominical en la Alameda Central, that spans one of their entire walls, with "La Catrina" at the center. They also have a room dedicated to the artist, Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera's wife. Students also recently researched and presented historical presentations in Spanish to their peers over Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, "La Catrina", Querétaro (México), Diego's mural, and the Mexican War for Independence. The field trip was a great time for all and has become a highlight of this AP preparatory course.
