Our Story

Graciously, the guiding Hand of our Lord has been on our school since its inception.  Sprouting its roots as part of the Boys’ and Girls’ Country in Hockley, Texas, Rosehill Christian School (RCS) first grew from a vision given to Mr. and Mrs. T.A. Robinson to found a Christian school on the Boys’ and Girls’ Country campus to minister to the students living there.  Additionally, they invited students from the surrounding community to enroll. In 1990, when Boys’ and Girls’ Country decided to send their students to public school, a group of parents who still believed strongly in putting Christ first in their children’s lives formed a Board to continue this quest of a Christ-centered education.  Thus, Rosehill Christian School was born and was allowed to rent buildings on the Boys’ and Girls’ Country campus for two years. Then the Lord led one board member to step out by faith and place money down on fifteen acres of land, located six miles west of Tomball, Texas, on FM 2920.

God enabled the parents, students, teachers, and board members to transform this simple cow pasture into a single-building campus that originally housed grades PK3 through fifth grade. Each year thereafter, an additional grade was added -- along with additional structures -- until the first senior class graduated in May 2000 with four members.

By 1994, Rosehill Christian School became a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ASCI) and then joined TAPPS (Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools) during the 1995-1996 school year.  

Throughout the 1990’s, numerous athletic and fine arts programs were added to Rosehill’s challenging academic curriculum.  Buildings were added in 1993, 1994, 1995, and 1996 to accommodate the steady growth that the Lord bestowed. The first gymnasium was completed in 2001.  Rosehill athletes began to compete at top levels, winning state titles, first in tennis and golf, then adding track, girls’ basketball, and baseball championships.  It was not long until Rosehill began to earn state titles in One Act Play, speech, drama, and art.

In 2005, two patrons made generous donations to pay off completely all debt that Rosehill Christian School incurred during the preceding fourteen years of construction and growth. This gift also allowed the school to establish the Rosehill Charitable Foundation, whose established purpose is to support and enhance Rosehill Christian School.

A capital campaign, "Capturing Your Imagination," was launched in February of 2008, resulting in many gifts and donations of gifts-in-kind totaling close to six million dollars. By God’s faithfulness, an additional 6 acres of property was secured, enabling the school to finish its traffic flow master plan, drill a well for irrigation purposes, construct a first class athletic training center, and add a new football field, eight lane rubber track, stadium seating/press box, football lights, and baseball field. Infrastructure improvements included consolidating septic issues, aerobically distributing irrigation on all our athletic fields, creating a circular water main so that any additional building may hook directly into the water source, running a 10 megabit (since updated to 100 megabit) ethernet line into the school for technology, installing a first-class wireless Aruba network to connect the entire campus to the Internet, and adding over 150 lit paved parking spaces.

The most recent expansion of our facilities came in 2017 when we added the “H” building which houses 11 classrooms for high school students, a state-of-the-art competition gym, a full-size stage and drama room, a snack bar and student foyer/lounge, and several administrative offices.

The ongoing financial support of generous constituents has allowed Rosehill Christian School to continue challenging students academically, while developing them spiritually. The requirement of each student, grades 6 - 12, to purchase a laptop for classroom use has dramatically increased our students’ technological acumen as classroom technology is rapidly advancing to keep pace with the changing instructional needs and learning styles of today’s youth.

Spiritually during these years, students were moving toward student-led praise and worship teams and mission trips.  Required community service hours were introduced for high school students who were then inspired to serve their local communities and the international community as the hands and feet of Jesus.  As one example, in 2011 students traveled to El Salvador to participate in the drilling of a water well that was donated by students and parents of the school.

While many field trips are the order of each year, students regularly participate in Texas Tour in eighth grade and are given the opportunity to visit Washington D.C. later in their high school years. Younger students take local field trips twice a year to venues such as the Children’s Museum, the Pumpkin

Patch, Dewberry Farm, or a re-enactment of a Civil War battle at the Liendo Plantation, etc.  Upper elementary students visit Washington-on-the Brazos, spend several days at Pine Cove Camp, and even go tent-camping to Enchanted Rock.

A high-water mark spiritually for high school students is the annual four-day/three-night retreat in early fall called “Pinnacle,” where students unplug from social media and focus on their relationship with the Lord and with each other.  

Recently, in May 2018, the Rosehill family held commencement exercises for 33 members of the senior class.  They are the 19th class to graduate from RCS. One hundred percent of these graduates will attend sixteen different colleges and universities in the fall of 2018.  Because of the availability of dual credit and Advanced Placement (AP) classes at Rosehill, these 33 students earned 670 hours of college credit during high school.  Almost one-third (30%) of the class will be entering college as sophomores.

Most importantly, however, Rosehill Christian School remains committed to its original vision of integrating God’s voice and vision into the lives of the students it serves while providing superior academic training and moral absolutes through the inerrant Word of God. Rosehill Christian School continues to be committed to the transference of Godly principles into the lives of students as an extension of the Christian home. It is only by the grace of God that the school is what it is today. We are so thankful for His hand of blessing.

As Christ expects excellence in our pursuit of holiness, RCS will promote an environment that leads to holiness and righteousness. This is accomplished by placing Christ as preeminent in our planning, worship, instruction, and extracurricular pursuits. We honor our Lord through high standards and expectations of character, honor, and discipline by faculty, administration, and students. Godly character is promoted in the classroom, practiced in the athletic environment, polished through extracurricular activities, and permeates the complete breadth of the school.

It is the desire of RCS to produce young men and women of honor and academic standing who will  make a difference in the community wherever God leads them.

The words of Larry Edwards, the first administrator of Rosehill Christian School back in the early 1990s, reflect the standard and philosophy which still characterize the foundation and journey of Rosehill Christian School: “When I consider all that has transpired within these walls and even in the constructing of these walls, I stand amazed in the presence of such an awesome God.  May we never forget who brought us to this point and who is leading us every step of the way….I pray that you will always remember that Name above all Names (JESUS) that was taught daily at Rosehill Christian School. This is the name that will sustain us for all the years to come.”
