410 Community Service Program

The mission of Rosehill Christian School includes serving others and giving back to the community. Our desire is for each student to use their God-given gifts to serve others. The number 410 is taken from 1Peter 4:10:

As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

Students are required to perform 25+ hours on Community Service Project. The key is the term PROJECT. What most colleges want on applications is to see initiative on the part of students in developing and implementing an idea that focuses on others in the student's community. We like to put the Service Project in the context of "Doing the Stuff That Jesus Did" ... Feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and visit those who are sick or in prison. Below are some guidelines plus some questions and answers that will help students as they work to accomplish their Service Projects.

  • Students have from June 1 through December 1 to earn at least the first 10 hours on their projects.
  • Students have from December 2 through May 6 to earn the other 15 required hours on their service projects.
  • Student projects may be 25 + hours or they may have multiple small projects that add up to the 25 hour requirement.
  • Students may receive credit by working on support projects at school (no more than 5 hours) or support projects at their church (no more than 5 hours.)
  • What is the difference between Community Service hours and a Community Service Project?
    • Hours are an accumulation of the time spent on a project. A PROJECT is an assignment necessitating personal initiative, which requires planning, development of ideas and resources, undertaken by an individual or a group of students.
  • Students must get prior approval before beginning their projects.
  • Students should turn in a "work completion" form at the conclusion of thier project
