Lower School News

    from the Principal:

Congratulations to Maddie Masters, our April Student of the Month!

“If anyone competes as an athlete, he does not win the prize unless he competes according to the rules.”

Cassidy Kelly (3rd grade) won top honors at two Regional American Saddlebred Horse Shows recently aboard her wonderful American Saddlebred mount Calypso King. In February, Cassidy took Reserve Grand Champion in the Texas American Saddle Horse Association Show at Great Southwest Equestrian Center in the Walk, Trot, Performance Class, and in March at the Prestigious Pin Oak Charity Horse Show in the Walk, Trot Saddleseat Equitation Class - Cassidy won First Place!!

Michael Jordan said, “I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career.  I’ve lost almost 300 games.  I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed 26 times.  I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life.  And that is why I succeed.”

We will be celebrating success and achievement for the 2007-2008 school year soon.  Soon the hallways will be quiet and polished and free from little footsteps.  Come and celebrate with us as we recognize your child’s greatness.

We thank each of you for your support this past year in all areas of this school.  It is true, nothing can be done that we not work as a body together.  We have shared joy and sorrow together and hope that always springs eternal in new life.  Special thanks to the hard work, planning, and gracious display of your love and appreciation this past week for our faculty.  It is our highest calling to be His servants to your young people.

God bless you!

The Art Show was a great success with live piano music by the students of Mrs. Connelly. Praise the Lord for all the talent He has given these students.

Mrs. Dauterive’s and Mrs. Schot’s Kindergarten classes have been learning about and classifying different types of animals in Science.  To conclude their unit of study, the children took a field trip to the Houston Zoo this week.  They enjoyed observing different animals in their habitat!

The 2nd graders made a sea scene to go along with the novel they are reading.  This week they will be writing a descriptive paragraph about the sea scene.

Third Grade

Third grade went to SkyMac Ranch last week and learned about miniature horses, painted quarter horses, and goats. They even went on a hay ride. Then the students used their measuring skills in preparing lunch and participating in a Mini Metric Olympics.

Pine Cove Wilderness Camp

After returning from Pine Cove Wilderness Camp, Mr. Danny Crocker came to visit with the fifth grade class to share his ministry visit to Africa.  He's asked the fifth graders to be in prayer for several missionaries.  Mr. Crocker challenged the fifth graders to pray and to understand that God does not always "fit in our box".  Our God is an awesome God who can do all things!
