WELCOME BACK
Mr. Priest and the upper school staff welcome the students back and give instruction the first day.

Upper School Parents,
What a great start to the school year! Teachers are teaching, students are learning and the principal is just now coming up for air! So... Monday night, August 25th is "MEET THE TEACHERS." We will meet for directions and announcements in the gym and then you will be dismissed to follow your child's schedule. We will be sending a copy of the schedule home on Monday. If you forget yours...or it doesn't make it home, don't worry. We'll have one for you in the gym.
Monday, September 15, we will have our Beginning of Year Parent Information Meeting. This will be held in the new pavilion. Mrs. Jaksha and I will be talking about topics that impact your child for the school year. (Testing, College Preparation and Admissions, Washington DC Tour for 11th and some 12th grade students, Other issues that impact the present and future success of your child)
Times will be 6:30 pm for 9th and 10th grade parents .... 7:30 for 11th and 12th grade parents.
Another item to assist your family is the Official School Web Calendar. Please follow the link below to find out what is happening at Rosehill. This should help you to plan your family schedule as you anticipate important dates and times for school events.

Remember that Pinnacle, our spiritual emphasis retreat, is being held in the Fall this year. Dates are Tuesday, November 4 through Friday, November 7. Cost is around $250.00. More information will follow. (If your son / daughter is eligible to vote, be sure to have them vote early!)
Welcome to our new parents in the Upper School. We have 35 new students! Hopefully they are making friends and enjoying their classes. If you need help in logging onto Renweb to view your child's assignments and grades, please contact Leanne Nelson at extension 215.
Thanks to one and all for a successful school opening.

Guys and Girls Night Out!
As the first day of school approached, high school students had an awesome opportunity to meet some of the new RCS students, hang out with their old school friends, and connect with the new as well as the returning teachers. The event was called “Girls and Guys Night Out”, and a GREAT time was had by all who attended.
The girls began their night with several rounds of “Duck Soup” Bowling. Although Mrs. Tumlinson spent most of her bowling experience on the ground, she ended up being one of the top scorers for the night. As the girls bowled on one leg, between their legs, and yelling out various embarrassing chants, all enjoyed the event. Next, the girls went to eat BBQ at Harris County Smoke House, where we plotted to attack the boys with water guns. As it turned out, the boys were notified of the impending doom (we won’t mention who the rat was – Mr. Priest J), and the girls got drenched with water balloons as they approached the building. All is fair in love and war and the girls participated in one of the games the guys played that resembled something like a Fear Factor Relay. As the guys ate their treats, the girls soaked them with water – revenge is sweet! The girls ended their evening at the Pena’s House, where they pigged out on ice cream, played ping pong, swam, and learned a very interesting cheer that RCS students will see again called the Eagle Chant. The guys hung out at the school, ate hamburgers and hot dogs – a la the Shelby Grill, played games, and had “huddles” which will continue throughout the year. “Huddles” are all about connecting with one another, team building, and spiritual growth.
All in all, the event was a huge success and was a wonderful way to start a fantastic year!
