Lower School News

    from the Principal:

Did you know

Money is a challenge for most Christian parents.  However, once you realize that your investment made where children can be taught where faith and learning are integrated, you can pray and expect God to help provide the finances.  It may take sacrifices.  Many Christian parents sacrifice each year to keep their children in Christian schools.  Christian education costs, but what is the value of educating your child in the light of eternity?

“The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning and principle and choice part of knowledge; it is the starting point” (Proverbs 1:7).

In this period of time when money is a chief concern for many people, let us rest in the fact that we know and serve the God of all.  Let us celebrate His peace and His watchful care over us and exercise our faith for the future.

A GREAT time was had by ALL!!!

Splendid Second Grade

The 2nd grade finished their bones project and also had fun tasting rice pudding as we discussed the many ways that the early settlers prepared rice.

Thriving Third Grade

Is your house built on a rock? I am sure many of us wondered how secure our homes truly were when Ike blew through. 3rd graders learned this week what it means to build on the “rock”. Though the storms of life blow through, and they will, we don’t have to be blown away if we stand firm and focus on Jesus. We want to be like Peter and have the faith to “walk on water” as we look/focus on Jesus. We don’t want to take our eyes off him and focus on the “storm” and sink.

The Fab Fourth & Fifth Grade

4th and 5th Graders had a “FUNtastic” time at their first ever Fall Costume Social this past Friday, October 24th.  This social time was scheduled to encourage friendships to grow, work as a team, and serve the Lord through a ministry project.  Several parents were key in helping this come about so I would like to thank Rachel Renk and Ann Juneau for planning the invitations, food, and decorations and a big thank you to Kristina Dimicelli for helping Mr. and Mrs. Miller out with the activities and games.  In addition, a big thank you to all those parents who provided the food, paper goods, and items to be placed in the ministry bags for the Karen children during this holiday time.

4th Graders are preparing to complete their big research reports this week about their country and we have a special day planned on Thursday to share in an “ethnic” dish where each child is bringing in a special recipe from their country to share with the class.  In reading class, students have completed the novel The Bridge and are working to complete their bridge project for next week.  Their bridges will be set-up on tables in the hallway outside of the classroom for you to view.

5th Graders are also preparing to complete their big research reports this week about an animal and are making animal masks to showcase their creativity.  These will also be set-up out on tables in the hallway outside of the classroom for parents to view.  In reading class, we are completing the novel Where The Red Fern Grows and learning life lessons of perseverance, hard work, and the true spirit of love and friendship that can be had by all of us.

4th Graders are working diligently on fractions in math class and learning about plants in science.  This week they were able to view up close and personal the effects of mold on fruit and record these observations.

5th Graders are working on fractions in math class and learning about moving air and forecasts/weather in science class.
