Did you know?
RCS students will be praying for you this month! Yes, students in the Cheesehead Ministry have been challenged to dedicate the month of October to daily prayer for others. The students responded immediately to the call to prayer and if you see them in the prayer garden during the course of the day or before school, know that they are the warriors for intercession.
Some of the prayer topics are:
- For our country’s leaders
- For the victims of the hurricane
- For the RCS families
- For the RCS faculty and staff
- For the leaders of the city of Houston
- For surrounding schools
- For each other
- For missionaries
May God richly bless this ministry!
And Don't Forget,
“Go for the Gold with Jesus”
JoAnn Connelly
Lower School Principal

They already have childlike faith
Now inspire them to pray like warriors.

Friday, October 17, 2008 was the BIG day the Kindergartners have been preparing for! The children and their families celebrated the “Elegant E” party which is a Rosehill Christian School tradition. The children have learned all of the letters and sounds of the alphabet, along with studying manners. They were excited to show all they had learned to their parents. They came to school dressed in their finest! The party was a wonderful way to congratulate the children for all of their hard work and accomplishments! Stay tuned for all the pictures of our "Elegant E"celebration.

Alleson Adams’ granddad, Mr. Don, came and showed us how to make magnets out of nails, wire, and batteries.

The children enjoyed picking up paper clips with their new magnets.

Did you know this was Fire Prevention Month? 3rd grade will start a unit on fire readiness and safety this week. We will discuss how to better prepare ourselves in case of a fire by discussing family fire plans. We will also understand how a fire extinguisher works by performing a science experiment.
Fabulous Fourth & Fifth Grade |
4th and 5th Graders are working very diligently on a research report and a novel in reading class. The 4th Graders are focusing on researching a country. The 5th Graders are focusing on an animal. They have learned about the planning stage in class this week and recorded facts from different types of sources onto index cards and worked their information into an outline. I have also overlapped their classroom learning into the computer lab with Mrs. Renk. Each grade has three mini I-searches/projects that they will be working on for the next few weeks in computer. One project is the cover page with clip art, the second is a fun facts sheet, and the third is the Bibliography to record sources used during this report. It’s great when teachers can work together in a cross-curricular fashion to touch on every area possible in a learning environment.
IMPORTANT NOTE |
Please refrain from allowing your students to bring toys to school. This includes all toys such as coloring books, Barbies, Brats, trinkets of any type, trading cards, etc. If it is a toy, please do not bring it to school. It is a distraction to the instructional and social process.
As the Lower School Principal Mrs. Connelly reserves the right to award prizes from her Treasure Box for displays of Christian character. Teachers, too, will be able to award prizes that students earn for good behavior.
Any toys or cards that find their way to school will be confiscated and parents will be able to claim them at the office. Thank you for your understanding.
