FOR PARENTS OF HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL PLAYERS Well, it is about that time again. Basketball season is upon us and begins in two weeks (Oct. 20th). We are excited about the upcoming season; after both the girls and boys teams reaching the State Tournament both teams look to build on last year success. We have several new and exciting coming up this year. 1st we have a new boys basketball coach in Coach Culver. We also have 2 Australian teams coming to Rosehill to play our boys and girls teams and the Varsity girls will be hosting a very competitive tournament over Christmas Break. Also through some generous donations and the RCAA, the program has purchased some new equipment as well as items to improve our gym. This year the high school basketball program will be purchasing shoes for the players to wear on game days. These shoes will be purchased by the school and will be billed to each player’s family account. Below is the cost of each pair by team. Varsity Boys $95.99 JV Boys $85.99 Varsity Girls $80.99 These shoes can be worn to practice, but it is highly recommended that each player have an additional pair for practice as over the course of a 4 ½ month season, a single pair will break down and become ineffective in supporting the player’s feet. We are sensitive to the commitment each family makes to attend Rosehill and ask that if the cost of the shoe is an issue with any family, please discuss the situation with your coach. Regards, Alan Driggers Director of Basketball Operations Rosehill Christian School

HOMECOMING GAME The Eagles hosted Austin Hill Country for Homecoming and in the first the RCS looked unstoppable. But in the end it was Hill Country that proved to be unstoppable, beating the Eagles 75-27. The Eagles host Brazos Valley this weekend and hope to get back on the winning track.
A big thank you to Wade Worthy and the RCAA on making Homecoming a special event. Also, much appreciation to Leanne Nelson and all the ladies who provided the after game meal for both teams. You people have great servant hearts and a great blessing to RCS.

The Varsity Cheerleaders cheered their hearts out at the Varsity Homecoming Game. They did an amazing half-time performance with the Junior High Cheerleaders. The newly formed Spirit Team enjoyed cheering with the girls at their first ever event. The Spirit Team is for kindergardners-5th graders who enjoy learning about team and school spirit. On Thursday the Rosehill Christian Junior High Football team traveled to
compete against the St. Anthony’s Dolphins. The two teams were even
matched making this contest a great one. It was a tough and physical
game from the beginning but at the end the Eagles fell 8 points short with
the final score being 22-14. The Eagles practiced and played hard all week.
They will continue to work hard as they try to get back that defeat by
competing against the St. Anthony’s Dolphins again next Thursday.
The game against the Dolphins will be the Eagle's second home game
of the season and is scheduled for a 5:00 kickoff.

It took teamwork to defeat Pope John XXlll last week but the ladies were
successful in their mission. There were several blocks and assists along
with kills and killer serves. It was a successful night on the court.

Faith West Game

Rosehill kept their playoff hopes alive Thursday night by defeating Faith West
in four games. The setters worked well together, as well as the whole team.
Their district record after this game is 3-3 and their overall record is 14-6-1.

JV played against Faith West on Thursday. they played hard but we were unable to come away with a win. Allison Diederich was a big asset to the team by digging several hard driven balls. Rachel Pearce and Kristen Diederich led the team with serves. Great game ladies.

JV played St. Thomas Episcopal on Friday of last week. They played hard and their efforts were rewarded by their first victory of the season. Rachel Pearce lead the team in serves in the first game. Keely McIntosh worked hard at the net and had a really awesome kill which gave the lady eagles the much needed point. Kristen Diederich lead the team in serves the second game and was setting her team mates Lizzie Edward and Allison Diederich so well that they were able to score points to bring the team to a comfortable lead. Each lady played her spot and dug well to lead the team to victory.
The score to the lady eagles JV game was game #1 St. Thomas 20 and Lady Eagles 25. JV rocked the house on the second game as they came away with a victory over St. Thomas with the score being St. Thomas 10 RCHS Eagles 25. Way to go lady JV eagles.

The Junior High Lady Eagles had two tough games upon
our return to school after Hurricane Ike. With two of our starters
missing, we had a disappointing loss to Faith West. Then this week we lost
to Northland Christian (25-13 and 25-15) despite a 90% team serving percentage.
However, when we traveled to Woodlands Christian Academy we won handily 25-14 and 25-12.
As we traveled to the Woodlands, the girls got a call into a radio station for their favorite
song and were really pumped up. We end our week with a home match against SATCH which
will maybe be preceded by another radio station call in!

RCAA Needs You!
Join the RCAA (Rosehill Christian Athletic Association). Who are we?
The Rosehill Christian Athletic Association (RCAA) was created in 1999 to provide support to the coaching staff, students and athletes of RCS. Every parent is a member and is encouraged to join us in building school pride, assisting our coaches in their efforts and encouraging our athletes to strive for excellence. What do we do?
The RCAA promotes school spirit and provides financial support to the school athletic programs through admission and concession sales at home sporting events. The RCAA also raises funds through a wide variety of activities including spirit wear sales, sales of season sports passes, and by seeking personal and corporate sponsorships. The RCAA also has the privilege of hosting several special events through the course of the year including Homecoming, the Varsity Eagles vs. Old Timers Basketball game and the Sports Awards Banquets. How can you help?
The RCAA is in constant need of volunteers to help promote the school and its athletic program. Volunteers are needed to organize events, assist in the design and purchase of spirit items, maintain school and athletic facilities as well as assist the coaches of each sport.More information is coming soon about how you can get involved.
